Fire Safety Burn Ban to take effect July 4 in Mason County

From the Mason County Fire Marshal:
In accordance with a policy adopted by the Mason County Commissioners to be consistent with the Dept. of Natural Resources and restrict certain burning activities when the National Fire Danger Rating System is at a moderate level, effective 1201 AM on July 4, 2024, land clearing and residential burning shall be prohibited on all Mason County lands not under DNR or Federal jurisdiction.

Please note that recreational burning (I.E., cooking fires using charcoal or firewood in a metal, concrete or rock circle no larger than 3 feet in diameter) is still permitted. However, it is anticipated as warmer weather continues, this activity will be restricted in the near future. Also permitted are any propane fires. Your cooperation in keeping Mason County fire safe is appreciate
